The Minister of Health has instructed the Secretary of the Ministry to provide an expert report regarding the immediate steps to be taken regarding the rapid spread of dengue in several parts of the country.
A committee consisting of experts including the National Dengue Control Unit has also been appointed to prepare the report.
A presidential task force has also been established for the control of dengue.
The health department points out that 31,098 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.
The highest number of patients are reported from Gampaha district. That is 6,953 patients.
The second highest number of patients is reported from Colombo district. Health departments indicate that the number is 6,500.
