The term of office of 340 provincial local government authorities ends at midnight next Sunday.
Accordingly, the official period of 29 municipal councils, 36 municipal councils and 275 local councils will end on Sunday midnight.
The number of local government bodies in the island is 341.
Since the establishment of the Elpitiya local council in Galle district was delayed, the term of office of that local council will not expire.
After the end of the term of office of the local government bodies, the control of the Municipal Councils will be placed under the Municipal Commissioners and the control of the Municipal Councils and Regional Councils will be placed under the Regional Secretaries.
Officially means, accordingly, legally, constitutionally !! So their duties, perks, privileged, position is terminating. So be it,
