    Consumers complain about the unfair vegetable prices

    Consumers complain that vegetable prices have gone up across the country these days.

    Consumers also say that prices have risen to unaffordable levels in Colombo, suburbs and the rural areas of the country.

    They also say that vendors in mobile vehicles bringing vegetables home due to travel restrictions are selling vegetables at exorbitant prices.

    Consumers say that the price of 250 grams of vegetables has been between Rs. 30-40 in the past but now it has gone up to Rs. 60-70.

    The price of a kilo of green beans is between Rs. 240-280 and the price of a kilo of long beans is between Rs. 190 and Rs. 230 and the price of a kilo of capsicum was between Rs. 400-480 today, according to market sources.

    A kilo of leeks sold today for Rs. 280 and a kilo of beet root for Rs. 260 , market sources said.
