Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella said that there are plans to establish paid wards in government hospitals.
Mr. Rambukwella also said that paying wards with high facilities will be established in the government hospital system and a fair price will be charged for them.
Mr. Rambukwella said that four investors have already come forward to establish paying wards and initially several paying wards with 100 beds will be established.
The health minister also said that the number of patients coming to government hospitals for treatment has increased by about 30% due to the country’s economic problems.
