The government is focusing on increasing the payment made for evaluating the answer sheets of the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level examination.
Cabinet Spokesman, Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, says that he is discussing with the Ministry of Finance.
The Cabinet of Ministers has given a policy approval to the cabinet paper submitted by Education Minister Mr. Susil Premajayantha to increase the payments.
The Minister also mentioned that the payments will be made in consultation with the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.
The minister also said that this step was taken considering the impact on the lives of about 329,000 children appearing for this examination if the examination results are delayed.
