The Bambalapitiya police yesterday arrested the person who brought the hand grenade found on the 31st in a polythene bag and hung it on a tree by the side of a road in Bambalapitiya.
Thus the employee of the private road cleaning company who gave information about the bomb to the police has been arrested.
Police investigations have revealed that the person named N. Mohammed alias George (65), a resident of Moranthuduwa Maha Gonaduwa, hung the bag containing the bomb on the tree and told the police about it.
The bomb was hanging from a tree near the 154 bus stand on the Bauddaloka road between Galle road and duplication road.
The police say that this person brought this bomb from his house and hung it here. They have started an investigation to find out how the bomb came to him.
