A point system for the driving license based on the mistakes made while driving

The system of deducting points from the driving license based on the mistakes made while driving will be implemented from next month.

Deductions are in place for 32 traffic offences. Accordingly, the amount of points given will gradually decrease according to the number of mistakes made by the person holding the license.

A deduction of 20 such points will result in the suspension of the driving license for one year.

There, 10 points will be deducted if the vehicle didn’t stop and is driven continuously after a road accident.

08 points will be deducted if driving faster than 150 kmph.

06 points will be deducted for careless driving regardless of roadworthiness.

When the number of points is zero, the driver’s license will be revoked, and the driver will lose the ability to get a driver’s license again.

The aim of this is to reduce the mistakes made by drivers while driving vehicles on the road.
