Electoral Commission sources state that a special commission meeting is scheduled to be held the day after tomorrow (23) to issue the notice calling for nominations for the local government election and to decide the period for accepting nominations.
It is also reported that the commission meeting is scheduled to be held at 10 am on 23rd, and a final decision will be taken regarding the call for nominations.
In the meantime, the Election Commission has also made arrangements to hold a meeting tomorrow (22) afternoon to inform the district secretaries who are in charge of the elections.
After that meeting, the District Assistant Election Commissioners are to be briefed on Friday and for that, they have been called to Colombo.
