Government Medical Officers Association states that they will carry out a series of massive protests in the future, demanding the withdrawal of the government’s unfair tax policy.
Dr. Haritha Aluthge, Secretary of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, said that a memorandum with the signatures of 20,000 doctors will be handed over to the President in the near future, asking him to prepare a tax system that is favourable and fair to the people.
He said that in order to defeat the unjust and arbitrary tax regime of the government, the largest and most extensive front of professionals in history will be created and its activities will be expanded to the level of regional committees.
He also mentioned that an awareness program will be initiated to build public opinion against the proposed tax amendments which will oppress professionals and harm the entire citizenry.
