Air traffic control sources state that the highest revenue received from international flights flying through Sri Lankan airspace has been recorded in the past 24 hours since the Covid epidemic.
Accordingly, the number of planes that have flown through Sri Lanka in the past 24 hours is 117. Every flight is handled with great effort by air traffic controllers until it passes through Sri Lankan airspace.
From each of these flights, Sri Lanka gets an income of about 250 US dollars and accordingly, the country has received more than Rs. 10 million in the past 24 hours. In addition to this, 120 aircraft arrivals and departures have been recorded at Katunayake International Airport during that period.
These days there are reports that there is a shortage of air traffic controllers in Sri Lanka and by managing that situation, the air traffic controllers in Sri Lanka have managed all these flights successfully last night even under very busy conditions.
