The Jaffna Special Crime Investigation Division has arrested a lawyer who is a well-known notary residing in Jaffna for preparing a fake deed to a land in Jaffna using the signature of a deceased person.
A 73-year-old lawyer named Velupillai Wijeratnam is a resident of Kondavil West, Jaffna.
This lawyer was arrested by the officers of the Special Criminal Investigation Department on last November 10th.
It is related to the preparation of forged deeds for a land in Jaffna using the signatures of two deceased persons. This is the second time that this lawyer was arrested for this after being released on bail for remanding in custody after being presented to the Jaffna court in the first time.
