Yesterday evening, a group of drunken thugs stormed the village-level meeting ground of the National People’s Power Party in Weerambugedara Panagamuwa village and brutally assaulted a group of people who were participating in the meeting and fled away.
Two people, including Mr. Somaratne Edirisinghe, a member of the National People’s Power Party of Polgahawela local council, have been admitted to the Kurunegala hospital. A few others were injured but are not hospitalized.
A group of six people who were drunk have done this attack.
The police say that one of the persons who attacked is also injured and hospitalized.
The police also mentioned that many properties including a car and two loudspeakers were damaged in this attack.
