The Department of Immigration and Emigration says that from 2023, the passport will be issued online.
Its Controller (IT) Mr. R.G.C.P.B.D. Ramawikrama mentioned that starting from the first quarter of 2023, they will start accepting passport applications through the online system.
He also pointed out that 50 regional offices will be established to obtain fingerprints.
This is expected to decongest the existing immigration headquarters.
