A change in the retirement age of parliamentary staff

It is reported that a proposal to increase the retirement age of the members of the parliamentary staff to 62 years is to be submitted to the Staff Advisory Committee of the Parliament.

The retirement age of government employees has been increased to 60 years and the proposal has been made to give an additional two years to the parliamentary officers and employees.

It is also reported that if the proposal is accepted by the Parliamentary Staff Consultative Committee, it is planned to submit it to the Cabinet for approval.

It is also reported that some officials of the Parliament have objected to the proposal to make the retirement age of the parliamentary staff 62 years.

They are also of the opinion that it is a hindrance to the officers of lower positions to get higher positions.
