Former Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra has been arrested by the Kurunduwatta Police.
It was after a disturbance occurred today during a protest organized by a group of activists of Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
The protest was organized under the leadership of former Member of Parliament Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra.
The protest was scheduled to be held up to the United Nations office in Colombo to end violence against women.
Unrest arose when several protesters were arrested by the police.
Later, while this group was protesting in front of the Kuruduwatta police, Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra was arrested.
