One person was injured and admitted to Bhagavanthalawa Hospital yesterday when wildlife officials fired at a group of people who were digging for gems secretly in the reserve area near Nanperiwatta, Bagavanthalawa.
Bagwantalawa Police say that L. Dharmaraj (45), a resident of Loinone Estate, was shot in this manner.
Police investigations have revealed that the shooting took place when a group of wildlife officials were going to arrest the group of people digging gems while they were fleeing.
