According to a complaint regarding an attack on Mahiyanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha member Wataraka Wijitha Thero with a water bottle, the chairman of the local council, Mr. KP Gunawardena, was arrested today.
The arrest was done in the chairman’s office at the local council.
It is said that this attack took place during the last meeting. Wataraka Wijitha Thero says that the chairman hit him with a water bottle after he got angry at a question he asked in the assembly.
According to the complaint of Wataraka Thero, the police will arrest the chairman today with the conclusion of the budget voting for the year 2023 in the assembly today. There were 13 votes in favor and 7 votes against. Two MPs have not attended the meeting.
