    The corporal who forged money from the computer in the Diyatalawa camp was arrested

    The Diyatalawa Police has revealed that fraudulent money was printed using the computer and printer used for duty in the office of the Diyatalawa Volunteer Force Training School.

    This has been revealed after a long investigation after the arrest of three army soldiers who tried to buy a bottle of alcohol by giving a fake 5000 rupees note at a liquor selling point in Diyathalawa.

    The army lance corporal who printed fake money from the computer of the army camp office has been remanded till November 11 after being produced in court.

    The Diyatalawa Police have taken steps to seek the assistance of the Counterfeit Currency Investigation Department of the Criminal Investigation Department for this investigation.

    With the arrest of this lance corporal, Diyatalawa police have arrested four people in the army for smuggling counterfeit money.

    In the face of questioning, the lance corporal who printed the notes said that he printed only two notes using the computer in the office. Two army soldiers tried to buy alcohol on the 15th by giving one of those notes to a liquor store in Diyathalawa.

    This investigation had started according to a notification given to the police about the said note by the manager of the liquor store upon the suspicion of it being a fake note after checking it.
