President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that everyone should put aside traditional party politics and join the program to create food security and solve the food problem of the people.
The President stated this while attending the Ampara district program to inform government officials about the multi-sectoral integrated mechanism for empowering rural economic centers to ensure food security and nutrition, which was held at Ampara Hardi Institute of Advanced Technology Auditorium this morning (15).
The President pointed out the importance of facing the global food crisis that may occur in 2023.
The president also said that the agriculture modernization program will be implemented from next year while implementing the food security program.
22% of the country’s rice production is produced by the farmers of the Ampara district.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe was briefed on the many agricultural and fisheries problems in the Ampara district and instructed the government officials to investigate and take immediate action and also instructed to form a special committee for the same.
