    India is even lower than Sri Lanka in the Global Hunger Index

    In the latest listing of the Global Hunger Index (GHI), India has slipped even lower than Sri Lanka.

    This index is prepared from 121 countries of the world.

    According to the latest index, Sri Lanka is at the 64th position. Accordingly, the index says that hunger in Sri Lanka is at a moderate level.

    This index shows the level of hunger on a point system.

    India is at 107th position. It is a decline of 6 places compared to the previous year.

    Nepal is at 81st position, Bangladesh at 84th position and Pakistan at 99th position.

    The only country in South Asia that does worse than India in terms of hunger on this index is conflict-ridden Afghanistan at 109.

    The Global Hunger Index (GHI) is a tool for measuring and tracking hunger at global, regional and national levels.

    The GHI score is based on the values ​​of four component indicators.

    Indicators such as the portion of the population that does not have enough calories or is undernourishment, the Proportion of children under five years of age with a low height for age, reflecting chronic malnutrition, the Proportion of children under five years of age who are underweight for height reflecting acute undernutrition and Proportion of children who die before age 5 or child mortality rate etc. are considered here.
