President Ranil Wickremesinghe has informed Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena that the staff level agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is not the final agreement.
Addressing the Parliament, the Speaker said today that as per the notification given by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Cabinet is to be informed about the staff level agreement made with the International Monetary Fund.
The President has stated that he will invite the opposition and other interested parties to meet and discuss with the Cabinet in the future.
“The President informed me that the agreement will be presented to the cabinet and relevant ministers before going to the IMF,” said Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
The announcement came after several opposition MPs repeatedly asked the government to disclose details of the staff-level agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund.
