The Pesticides Registrar Office says that no investigation has been done yet on the stock of imported rice in the market.
Acting Pesticides Registrar Lasantha Ranaweera stated that whether or not there are toxic chemicals in the imported rice stocks currently in the market can be declared after conducting an investigation.
The acting pesticide registrar stated that media reports were published based on a research report conducted in 2017 that imported rice contains toxic chemicals.
However, Acting Pesticides Registrar Lasantha Ranaweera further stated that the information of the research report was also wrongly stated in these media reports.
