    29 flood victims were rescued in Puttalam

    Naval relief teams have rescued 29 people, including women and children, who were stranded in the Puttalam district due to floods.

    Accordingly, 29 persons including children and women belonging to 10 families who were in danger of drowning due to heavy rains in Kiriyankalli, Pulichchikulam and Battuluoya areas in the Puttalam District were rescued by the Navy and evacuated to safer places. Necessary measures were taken to provide relief services to those people.

    At present, the Navy has deployed 16 relief teams, including teams from the Naval Rapid Response and Rescue Unit, covering the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and North Western Provinces which are at risk of floods.

    The Navy has deployed relief teams in Gampaha, Ja-Ela, Ragama, Bulathsinhala and Paragoda in the Gampaha and Kalutara districts of the Western Province to provide relief to the flood victims.

    The Navy also deployed relief teams in Thawalama, Hiniduma, Nagoda, Eppala, Athimale and Athuraliya areas in the Galle and Matara districts of the Southern Province.

    The relief teams deployed by the Navy cover Kiriyankalli, Pulichchikulam and Battuluoya areas in the Puttalam District of the North Western Province and Elapatha and Kalawana areas in the Ratnapura District of the Sabaragamuwa Province.

    Also, 66 persons were rescued by the Navy yesterday.

    And, 44 ​​naval relief teams were active in various affected areas of the country yesterday.
