President’s Secretary Mr. Saman Ekanayake has said that he has signed the letter related to the release of former state minister and veteran artist Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake who is in prison.
Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake has been sentenced to prison with four years of hard labor after being found guilty of contempt of court.
Yesterday Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake had also handed in the affidavit related to apologizing to the court.
A number of parties including artists, people, politicians had repeatedly requested for his release.
It is reported that these activities have been done considering a request made by the Ministry of Justice regarding the release of Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake.
