Mr. Manusha Nanayakkara, Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment, said that an agreement will be signed between the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment and the Im Japan Institute for obtaining new job opportunities for Sri Lankan workers.
In a discussion held this morning (25) with the delegation including Mr. Hitoshi Kanamori, the executive chairman of Im Japan, the minister focused his attention on the possibility of getting more job opportunities.
Accordingly, they are working to sign a new arbitration agreement and both parties were able to reach the basic agreements for that. Accordingly, the technical level discussions will be completed soon and the MoU will be signed.
After the Covid pandemic, there was a decrease in the number of workers sent to Japan and the minister pointed out the importance of providing Japanese job opportunities to the youth who are currently receiving Japanese language training.
It received a good response from the representatives of Im Japan. Opinions were also exchanged regarding the job security of workers leaving for job opportunities in Japan and the Japanese delegation drew the minister’s attention to the measures taken by Im Japan to ensure the security of the respective jobs.
The minister pointed out the importance of working as entrepreneurs who are sent to Japan for job opportunities in the technology sector and the nursing sector, after returning to Sri Lanka, and Im Japan agreed to provide the necessary support for that.
