The Thangalle Police have arrested Mr. Saman Perera, the leader of the Ape Janabala Party, in connection with an investigation into a murder that took place in Tangalle Morakati Aara on June 5th.
It was first revealed by us to the country on June 19 that a party leader was going to be arrested for this murder.
A suspect in that murder was arrested for sheltering him at his home in Kurunegala.
A candidate who contested the last general election from his party was also arrested in connection with the murder. Another suspect, who was a candidate involved in the murder, is also to be arrested.
A man who was travelling in a cab was shot dead in the Morakati Aara area and he is a person that had given information to the police about a drug trade related to Harak Kata.
