Police information disclosed that the three persons including the convener of the Inter-University Student Union, Wasantha Mudalige, who are in police custody, will be handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Division in the near future.
The three namely Wasantha Mudalige, Galwewa Siridhamma thero and Hashan Gunathilake are currently in the custody of the Peliyagoda Police.
Police say that they were arrested by the Kelaniya Division Criminal Investigation Division. According to a 72-hour detention order obtained from the Kelaniya Divisional Superintendent of Police, the three are currently detained at the Peliyagoda Police Station and are being investigated.
The 72-hour waiting period is scheduled to end tomorrow. Meanwhile, the police has received permission from the Defense Secretary to conduct investigations under the Terrorism Act. Accordingly, the three of them will be placed under the charge of the Terrorist Investigation Division. Accordingly, the Terrorist Investigation Division has got the opportunity to hold them for 90 days and conduct investigations.
