Rs 70 million worth of rice went missing from a Sathosa warehouse

Employees of Lanka Sathosa say that a stock of rice worth more than Rs. 70 million is missing from the Anuradhapura supply warehouse belonging to Lanka Sathosa, but no investigation has been done so far.

The workers also say that 350,000 kilos of imported rice from the Anuradhapura supply warehouse have been missing for about 6 months since July last year.

The employees also say that some of the rice stocks brought to the warehouse were kept in lorries and taken out, but there were false notes in the documents that the rice was delivered to the warehouses.

Initially, it was revealed that 350,000 kilos of rice were missing from the Anuradhapura warehouse, but later the employees alleged that some senior officials of Lanka Sathosa Company had worked to cover up the fraud by even deleting the computer data.
