Fort police officers arrested four people who were standing near the Galle Face Bandaranaike statue in defiance of court orders.
That is because the four people were staying in the station in violation of an order given by the Fort Court not to stay within 50 meters of the statue.
The police also took steps to mark the 50-meter limit at that place today.
A police team led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police had gone to the spot.
A group of people protested against the police officers, but later they removed even the tents that were within 50 meters.
The police said that steps would be taken to produce the four of them in court.
