Senior Superintendent of Police Romesh Liyanage, who assaulted a group of journalists who were on duty covering the protest held in front of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence, has been suspended.
The relevant order is currently being prepared at the police headquarters.
He has been suspended after receiving the interim report of the investigation conducted by the Police Special Investigation Unit regarding the attack this morning.
06 journalists were injured in this attack and hospitalized.
