The convoy of vehicles escorted by armed security guards along the Katunayake highway towards the Katunayake airport has been observed entering the air force base at Katunayake by the members of the security forces deployed to protect the Katunayake air force base.
The officials mentioned that 06 vehicles were traveling like that and 04 were Defender jeeps. The members of the security forces mentioned that there was armed military personnel in the Defenders and two vehicles in which a VIP or similar person was traveling between the defenders.
The officials further mentioned that the convoy moved towards the air force base through the airport junction and entered the base.
