Litro Gas Company under the Ministry of Finance today signed an agreement to acquire 100,000 metric tons of LP gas.
The total wholesale price is US $ 90 million. The World Bank has provided $ 70 million in funding and the remaining $ 20 million has been provided by Litro.
This stock will be sufficient to supply the country for four months.
70% of the gas stock will be delivered to domestic customers. It is estimated to get 5 million 12.5 kg cylinders, 1 million 5 kg cylinders and 1 million 2.5 kg cylinders. The remaining 30% will be used for commercial use.
An initial consignment of 33,000 tons of LPG acquired by Litro at a cost of $ 20 million will arrive in Sri Lanka in the first week of July and distribution will begin immediately.
