Opposition parties in Parliament today (Jan. 21) stated that they will boycott Parliament for a week until the government comes up with solutions to people’s problems as the government is deceiving the people by not solving their problems.
Accordingly, the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa and Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna have stated that they will boycott Parliament for a week. Leading members of the National Freedom Front, Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance Mano Ganeshan, Athuraliye Rathana, Waduwel Suresh and other opposition and independent parties spoke in support of it.
Before Wimal Weerawansa spoke, Nimal Lansa expressed his views and said that no one had supported the earlier proposal to form an all party government. Afterwards, Wimal Weerawansa spoke and accused Nimal Lansa of secretly meeting the President to appoint the Prime Minister, leading the situation to a conflict.
