Former Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councilor Hasitha Samantha Muhandiram alias ‘Sarpaya’ has been acquitted of a double murder in Kalawana.
That is after Colombo High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe handed down the verdict in the double murder case.
Ranjith Nandasena, a former Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councilor and his bodyguard were shot dead in 1999 and he was charged by the Attorney General’s Department with arson.
The case ran for a very long time and the verdict was announced today.
