The Ministry of Agriculture is focusing on accelerating the production of triple super phosphate and single super phosphate (TSP and SSP fertilizer) in connection with the Eppawala phosphate deposit.
Attention was drawn to this during a discussion held at the Ministry yesterday to expedite the production of fertilizer for paddy and other crops related with the Eppawala Phosphate Deposit.
In a background where about 60 million metric tons of phosphate is available in the deposit, according to the Ministry of Agriculture the government has to spend around Rs. 06 billion annually on the importation of triple super fertilizer.
