    Prima also increases wheat flour prices

    Prima has increased the price of a kilo of wheat flour by Rs. 40.

    Accordingly, the price of a kilo of milk wheat flour used for bakery products will increase to Rs. 243.50.

    The owners of the bakery state that they have to pay more than Rs. 10,000 for a 50 kg bundle of wheat flour.

    Meanwhile, Serendib company yesterday (18) increased the price of a kilo of wheat flour by Rs. 35.

    The President of the All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association N. K. Jayawardena stated that the prices of bakery products including bread and buns will have to be increased again as compared to the increase in the price of wheat flour.

    He further stated that the increase in the prices of bakery products in this manner will cause great inconvenience to the consumers and there is a risk of collapsing their industry.
