It is reported that Mr. Jagath Samarawickrema, who was in the 5th position in the preferential list of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna from the Polonnaruwa District in the last General Election, is to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament in the future.
It is to fill the vacancy left by the late Member of Parliament Amarakeerthi Athukorala.
Mr. Amarakeerthi Athukorala was killed in a violent incident in Nittambuwa recently.
