The State Ministries of Cooperative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection state that maximum prices will be set for essential commodities in the future.
Minister of State Gunapala Ratnasekera stated that it was not possible to set a maximum price for the essential items as there was no definite list of essential items so far.
He further stated that it is planned to prepare such a document in the future and fix a control price.
Minister of State Gunapala Ratnasekera further stated that this decision will be implemented to prevent price fluctuations in order to provide relief to consumers despite the crisis situation prevailing in the country.
