Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said today (04) that the President has accepted the resignation of the Deputy Speaker and the election to choose a new Deputy Speaker will be held tomorrow.
The Speaker was responding to a query made by Samagi Jana Balavegaya leader Sajith Premadasa and Parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella.
Former Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya also spoke on the occasion.
“I submitted my resignation to the President twice. I have now received a written statement acknowledging my resignation,” said MP Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
