Sri Lanka Freedom Party Chairman Maithripala Sirisena says president Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has agreed to appoint a national council consist of all party leaders.
The National Council is responsible for the appointment of the prime minister for the new government and the appointment of the Ministerial Board.
Speaking to the media he said that the President has agreed to set up an interim government with all parties and discussed that the Cabinet with the new Prime Minister should be limited to 15-20 members.
Meanwhile, Vasudeva Nanayakkara a member from the independent group of the government stated that his team has took over the responsibility of collecting all other parties to form a interim government.
