President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as the Executive President has stated that he agrees in principle to form an all party government representing all parties in Parliament as a solution to the crisis facing the country.
Addressing party leaders, the President has said that as the first step in forming an all party government, arrangements have been made to hold a discussion at 10.30 am at the President’s House, Colombo 01 the day after tomorrow (29).
The President invited the party leaders who are currently representing the ruling party in Parliament, as well as the party leaders who represented the ruling party in Parliament after the 2020 General Elections and are party leaders of the parties that are now working as independent groups, to attend the event with their new ideas.
In his letter, the President said that the structure of the all-party government proposed to be formed after the resignation of the current Prime Minister and the Cabinet should be discussed and decided on the relevant matters, including the duration of its implementation and which persons the responsibilities should be given.
