The Director-General of Health Services has decided to make the wearing of face masks compulsory again from today (21).
Director-General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said in a statement that the decision was taken due to people gathering in places all over the country.
He further added that there was a possibility of re-emergence of the coronavirus due to people not wearing face masks during the ongoing protests across the country.
The Minister of Health Prof. Channa Jayasumana stated on the 18th that wearing a face mask is not mandatory.
