A delegation of Defense Advisers from around the world has visited the Hambantota International Port to observe its activities.
The Hambantota International Ports Group includes defense advisers from the United States, Maldives, France, Germany, Kenya, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland.
The security advisers expressed interest in directing their naval vessels, services and other facilities operating in the region to the Hambantota International Port (HIP).
The delegation was received by Hambantota International Port Services Company (HIPS) General Manager, Captain Miyuru Gunasekara, Defense Specialist in HIPS Dilan Silva, Commanding Officer of Kavantissa Naval Base, and officials representing the International Shipping and Ports Defense Office (ISPS) and Shipping.
Representatives of the Sri Lanka Army and Police also participated in the visit with the approval of the Ministry of Defense, according to the Hambantota International Ports Group.
“During the inspection tour of the Hambantota Port premises, the visiting delegation was concerned about the history, facilities, security and future development of the port. They praised the port facilities and commented on the record operations we have achieved in a very short period of time. It is a pleasure to be able to be hospitable to them, ”said Captain Miyuru Gunasekara.
The Hambantota International Ports Group says that two Indian vessels have recently arrived at the Port of Hambantota to provide services and other facilities, and in recent years ships from Japan, Indonesia, Russia and the United States have arrived at the Port of Hambantota.
