Railway authorities have requested the Ministry of Transport to increase train fares in view of the increase in fuel prices.
At the same time, it has been pointed out that if there is no increase in train fares, there is a risk that the existing losses will go up and the train services will also collapse.
It is said that the Ministry of Transport is paying special attention in this regard. Transport Minister Dilum Amunugama says that the train fare will have to be slightly revised in the future.
Despite the increase in fuel prices in the recent past, there has been no increase in train fares, the Minister said.
