According to political sources, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed to provide Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila who were removed from their portfolios, the same level of security as cabinet ministers.
Usually a Member of Parliament is given only two bodyguards.
Accordingly, the number of security personnel given to Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila who were recently removed from their ministerial posts was to be reduced.
However, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila will continue to receive the protection privileges similar to Cabinet Ministers.
