    Income is Rs. 100 million within the first month of the opening of Athugalpura Expressway

    Johnston Fernando, Chief Government Whip and Minister of Highways has stated that over 500,000 vehicles have been driven on the Mirigama-Kurunegala section of the Central Expressway (Athugalpura entrance) and the government earned Rs. 100 million in the first month after it was opened to the public.

    The section of the road from Mirigama to Kurunegala was opened to the public on the 15th of last month.

    Then for the first 12 hours after opening, people were given the opportunity to travel for free.

    Accordingly, 510,670 vehicles have been plying on this road during the period from the 16th of January to the 21st of this month.

    Minister Johnston Fernando further stated that an income of Rs. 109,659,600 has been earned from these vehicles.

    Interchanges are located at Mirigama, Nakalagamuwa, Dambokka, Kurunegala and Yaggapitiya on the Mirigama – Kurunegala section of the expressway.
