The Cabinet has approved the payment of a monthly stipend of Rs. 100,000 targeting the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games for exceptionally talented athletes.
In addition, a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000 has been approved for the coaches of these sportsmen and sportswomen.
The statement issued by the Cabinet Office in this regard is as follows.
The National Sports Council has recommended the implementation of an incentive program targeting the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games to provide financial sponsorship for the training needs of exceptionally talented athletes who are identified under a long-term systematic training program based on their qualifications and medal aspirations and to provide a financial allowance for coaches of them.
The proposal made by Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, to proceed with the related activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
