President’s Counsel, Minister of Justice Ali Sabri states that Sri Lanka has received Rs. 1 billion in compensation from the MV-X Press Pearl ship that caught fire off the coast of Sri Lanka.
The Minister further stated that further steps are being taken to obtain the remaining compensations.
He said that at the time of the fire, the main task was to minimize the damage caused by the ship and to ensure that the ship did not leak oil and did not harm the environment. He further said that the government was able to complete that task.
