A three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court today acquitted former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former IGP Pujith Jayasundara of all charges, including 855 indictments each for failing to prevent an Easter Sunday terrorist attack.
The verdict was unanimously passed by a three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court comprising Namal Balalle, Aditya Patabendige, and Mohamed Irsadeen. Hemasiri Fernando’s verdict was announced first and then the Pujith Jayasundara’s verdict.
Former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former IGP Pujith Jayasundara were acquitted in the case filed by the Attorney General without any evidence being called.
