The crown and the farmer signs have been removed from the list allotted for use as signs of political parties.
This is stated in a special gazette notification issued by the Commissioner-General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake.
The new list of approved signs for political parties was released by the Election Commission on January 21.
In addition to the signs currently allotted to political parties, it also stated the signs that are available for parties.
Steps were taken to remove the crown sign and the farmer sign using a new gazette notification.
